As some of you may or may not be aware, this year's DUB AID was hit by extreme inclement weather and it was with great regret that the organisers made the hard decision to close the gates to new visitors first thing on Saturday morning through to Sunday. As you can imagine, this was not a decision we took lightly.
This years show would have been our biggest by far and as a consequence of this growth we were very closely scrutinised by the Licensing authorities and it was extremely important that we operated to our Policies and Procedures documentation that formed part of our new license. One of these policies covers Extreme Weather and ultimately states that the safety of staff and the general public must always be our top priority. As the ground was flooded after torrential rain overnight on Friday and more wet weather was forecast for Saturday a decision was made. As organisers, we believe the decision was the correct one and the obvious fact that nobody was hurt and everyone got away safely means it was the definitely the right one!
DUB AID is a Charity show and all monies raised above our operating costs are donated directly to the charities that are chosen each year. The organisers, stewards and volunteers are not paid to run this show and take nothing in return. The team work tirelessly for at least six months prior to the show, donating their time, effort and money to make sure the show happens and entertains you year-on-year.
Anyone with knowledge of organising a show like DUB AID will know that the majority, if not all, of the infrastructure is paid for in advance such as the site, the marquees, sound equipment, generators, toilets, the water, etc., etc. Your commitment to the show by purchasing advance tickets and the generosity of our sponsors helps pay for all this. As organisers we make every effort to ensure the infrastructure is heavily discounted ensuring we get the best value for money possible.
As you can imagine, DUB AID has been hit hard financially by this year's event and if we have to offer recompense to everyone then it will definitely turn out to be our last DUB AID. Over the next few weeks the organisers will be making some very hard decisions and we ask that everyone bears with us whilst we decide the future of the show. We trust you understand.
On a positive note, we've been asked by many to set up a Just Giving page, and we thank you very much for your continued generosity. After the weekend we've had, it's sentiments like this and the comments on the Facebook group that have pulled the team through the weekend and out the other side. We will sort this as soon as we possibly can.
If, in the meantime, you have any questions please email organisers@dubaid.co.uk and we will endeavour to respond to you as soon as we possibly can.
Yours faithfully
The DUB AID Team
Dub Aid Ticket details
Ticket availability
Current ticket status (for weekend campers):
SUPER-IMPORTANT: Due to poor weather, the organisers have had to cancel the show. A torrent of rain has made the ground unusable and has not improved enough to allow us to open Sunday, so the show is closed to any visitors not already on site.
The organisers are, of course, gutted to have to do this. The whole point of the show is to raise money for charity, so it was not a decision that we have taken lightly.
Should you need to get in touch, email keebs@dubaid.co.uk, who will get back in touch with you as soon as possible, but please be aware that it may not be until *after* the weekend.
